ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether taking part in music activities can help improve depression and sleep quality in older adults who are frail. Frailty means having less strength and energy than usual, which can make daily life harder. The study will take place in adult day care centers, where some participants will join music sessions twice a week for eight weeks, while others will continue with their usual activities. Researchers will check how participants are feeling and how well they are sleeping before, during, and after the program to see if the music activities make a difference.
To take part, individuals need to be 60 years or older, already attending an adult day care center, and have some signs of frailty and either mild depression or sleep problems. Participants also need to be awake and able to communicate in Mandarin or Taiwanese. People with serious hearing or vision problems, severe mental health conditions, or dementia won’t be able to join. If eligible, participants can expect to spend about an hour twice a week enjoying group music activities designed to be fun and supportive, with the goal of helping their mood and sleep. This study hopes to create a simple music program that can be used in day care centers to help many older adults in the future.
