ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how doing burpee exercises in water might help improve strength, balance, and overall physical ability in women who have gone through menopause and had their thyroid gland removed (a surgery called thyroidectomy). As we get older, especially after menopause, muscles tend to get weaker, which can make everyday activities harder and increase the risk of falls. Exercising in water is gentle on the body and has been shown to help improve muscle strength and coordination, but no one has yet studied specifically how water-based burpee exercises affect these changes in women like this.
Women who may be eligible to join are around 50 to 58 years old, have had their thyroid removed, are post-menopausal, and have a body weight that classifies as obese (a BMI of 30 or higher). Participants should not have serious joint problems, heart disease, or fear of water, and they should be non-smokers. If accepted, participants will take part in water-based burpee exercises over a period of time to see if this helps improve their muscle strength and ability to move safely. This study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to find new ways to help women maintain their independence and reduce the risk of falls after thyroid surgery.
