ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well three different types of dental sealants protect the first permanent molars (the big back teeth) in children aged 5 to 7 years. Sealants are special coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth to help prevent cavities. The study will compare sealants that like moisture (hydrophilic), those made with tiny particles (nanofilled hydrophobic), and traditional sealants that repel moisture (conventional hydrophobic). Researchers want to see which type stays on the teeth best, prevents cavities effectively, stops leaks, and releases fluoride over an 18-month period. They will also check if using an extra bonding agent helps the sealants work better.
Children who are cooperative during dental visits, have good oral hygiene, and have two partially erupted first molars (teeth that are still coming in) may be eligible to join. Kids with obvious cavities, certain tooth conditions like fluorosis or hypoplasia, or teeth that already have fillings will not be able to participate. Families can expect regular dental check-ups during the study, where the sealants will be applied and monitored to see how well they protect the teeth over time. This research aims to find the best sealant option to help keep young children’s teeth healthy as they grow.
