ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying blood vessel grafts used in heart surgery for patients with coronary artery occlusive disease (CAOD), a condition where the heart’s blood vessels become narrowed or blocked. The researchers want to learn more about the biology of these grafts by looking at their genes and how they work at a very detailed level. This could help doctors understand why blood vessels become stiff or change over time and might lead to better treatments in the future.
Adults aged 19 and older who are scheduled to have coronary artery bypass surgery (a procedure to improve blood flow to the heart) may be eligible to join if they agree to participate and can follow the study’s steps. Participants will be asked to provide a small sample of their vascular graft during surgery, which will be stored in a biobank for research. The study does not include children, patients having other heart valve surgeries, or those who have had previous heart surgeries. If you qualify and take part, your routine care won’t change, but your tissue sample will help researchers explore new ways to improve heart health.
