ClinConnect Summary
This clinical study is looking at a surgical treatment for people who have a splenic artery aneurysm, which is a bulge or swelling in the artery that supplies blood to the spleen. The surgery is done using small cuts and a camera (called laparoscopic surgery) to remove the aneurysm while keeping the spleen intact. Researchers want to see how this surgery affects important body functions like the immune system and blood flow through nearby veins and arteries. The goal is to understand if these changes can help improve the patient’s health after surgery.
People who might join this study are adults aged 65 to 74 who have specific types of splenic artery aneurysms—either ones larger than 2 cm, ones that have burst, or ones that are growing quickly. To be eligible, the aneurysm must be in the main part of the splenic artery, and participants need to agree to join the study. This study is currently looking for volunteers. People with certain health problems like cancer, liver disease with high blood pressure in the veins, recent stomach ulcers, bleeding strokes, pregnancy, blood disorders, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or HIV are not eligible. If you join, you can expect to have the laparoscopic surgery and follow-up tests to monitor how your body responds after the procedure.
