ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at people who have a condition called metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), which means there is extra fat in the liver that can affect health. The study wants to check these patients for high levels of uric acid in their blood, a condition called hyperuricemia. High uric acid is linked to MAFLD and can cause other health problems. By finding out how common high uric acid is in people with MAFLD, doctors hope to better manage the disease and help improve patients’ overall health and quality of life.
To take part, adults over 18 years old who have been diagnosed with MAFLD through imaging tests like an ultrasound may be eligible. However, people who are pregnant, have cancer, type 1 diabetes, or have had weight-loss surgery for fatty liver disease won’t be able to join. While the study is not yet recruiting participants, those who join can expect to have their uric acid levels checked as part of the screening process. This information may help doctors create better treatment plans for managing MAFLD in the future.
