ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring whether a medicine called Rapamune (Sirolimus), taken by mouth, is safe and might help prevent or reduce the severity of infections or illnesses related to infections. The study will observe 15 adults over six months to see how the medicine affects their health and if there are any side effects. It’s important to know that Rapamune is not currently approved by the FDA for preventing infections, though it is approved for other uses.
Adults aged 18 and older who have a prescription for Rapamune from a specific clinic and, if female and able to have children, are using birth control, may be eligible to join. Participants will have blood tests to check things like cholesterol and signs of inflammation or infection, answer questions about their mental health and quality of life, have their heart checked with an ECG, and have their blood pressure measured. People who are pregnant, nursing, recently very sick with certain infections, or have other serious health issues may not be able to join. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to better understand how Rapamune might help with infection-related illnesses in the future.
