ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is testing a new phone app called Connect2Care, designed to help African American men learn more about prostate cancer and the benefits and risks of early screening using a PSA test—a simple blood test that can detect prostate cancer early. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among African American men and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths, but many men in this group don’t have enough information or don’t get screened regularly. This study aims to see if using the Connect2Care app for 30 days can improve knowledge about prostate cancer and encourage men to feel ready and confident to get screened.
Men who live in Oklahoma, identify as Black or African American, are between 45 and 69 years old, and have not had a PSA test in the past two years may be eligible to join. Participants will be randomly given either the Connect2Care app or another health app to use for 30 days. During this time, they’ll answer questions about what they’ve learned, how easy the app is to use, and how they feel about getting screened. The study will also explore if using the app helps men become more motivated and confident to take the PSA test. If successful, this app could be shared with African American men across the country to help reduce prostate cancer risks through better education and screening.
