ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how the caring actions of nurses in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) affect the quality of care that adult patients receive. The researchers want to understand if the way nurses show care influences how well patients are looked after, and whether factors like the nurses’ experience or personal qualities play a role in this. To do this, nurses will fill out questionnaires about how they care for patients and provide some personal information. At the same time, the researchers will observe patients in the ICU to see how good the nursing care is.

Nurses who have worked in the ICU for at least three months and take care of patients during 24-hour shifts can join the study if they agree to participate. Patients who are 18 or older, fully dependent on nursing care (meaning they need help with breathing, feeding, and other medical devices), and have certain medical devices like a urinary catheter for at least two weeks may also be included, with consent from their legal guardians. Participants can expect nurses to complete surveys, and researchers to observe care over the course of a year. The goal is to use the results to improve training and nursing care quality in ICUs, making hospital stays safer and more comfortable for patients.
