ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how different medicines might help prevent a condition called emergence delirium in young children aged 3 to 5 years old after eye muscle surgery (called squint surgery) performed under general anesthesia with a gas called sevoflurane. Emergence delirium is when a child wakes up from anesthesia feeling confused, upset, or restless, sometimes crying or moving around a lot, which can be distressing for both the child and their parents. The study aims to find out which medicine works best to reduce these symptoms and make recovery more comfortable and safer.

Children eligible to take part are those between 3 and 5 years old, in good general health, and scheduled for squint surgery using sevoflurane anesthesia. Parents or close family members must agree to participate. Children who are very anxious before surgery, have behavioral or neurological conditions, or are taking sedative medicines regularly will not be included. If your child joins the trial, they will receive one of the study medicines during surgery, and doctors and nurses will carefully watch how they wake up and recover to see if the medicine helps prevent emergence delirium. This study is not yet recruiting participants but aims to improve care and comfort for children undergoing surgery.
