ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how ultrasound, a painless imaging method, can help predict when children might have a hard time with breathing tubes during surgery to remove their tonsils and adenoids (called adenotonsillectomy). Sometimes, doctors find it difficult to place a breathing tube correctly, which can cause serious problems. The study aims to see if using ultrasound measurements can identify children who might have a tricky airway before surgery, especially since enlarged tonsils and adenoids can change the shape of the airway.
Children between ages 3 and 8 who are generally healthy and scheduled for planned (not emergency) surgery might be able to join. The study will compare two groups: kids having adenotonsillectomy and kids having other types of surgery. If you take part, doctors will use ultrasound to look at your child’s airway before surgery to help predict any difficulties with intubation (inserting the breathing tube). This information could help make the procedure safer for children in the future. Children with certain medical conditions or who need emergency surgery would not be eligible.
