ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how common thyroid problems are in people who have immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a condition where the body’s immune system attacks its own platelets, which help blood to clot. The study also wants to understand how having a thyroid disorder might affect the treatment and management of ITP.

The trial is open to adults aged 65 to 74 who have ITP, including those newly diagnosed (less than 3 months), those with the condition for a few months (3-12 months), and those with long-term ITP (more than 12 months), as well as patients whose ITP does not respond to treatment. People who have had their thyroid removed, have certain infections like hepatitis or HIV, or have drug-related ITP will not be able to join. If you participate, you can expect to have your thyroid health checked and the study will look at how this relates to your ITP and its treatment. This research is not yet recruiting participants but aims to help doctors better understand the link between thyroid issues and ITP to improve care in the future.
