ClinConnect Summary

This study is looking at how comfortable and skilled caregivers of children having surgery are with using digital tools like smartphones, computers, and the internet. The researchers want to understand if caregivers from certain backgrounds—such as those who belong to minority racial groups, speak languages other than English, or live in neighborhoods with fewer resources—have more difficulty using digital technology. This information can help hospitals provide better support to families during their child’s surgical care.

Caregivers who have children under 18 years old scheduled for surgery at the hospital may be able to join the study, as long as they speak English, Spanish, Arabic, Nepali, or Somali. Participants will be asked about their use and comfort with digital technology. It’s important to note that the study is still recruiting volunteers, and people whose child is 18 or older, who are wards of the state, or who do not have a current address on file cannot participate. This study aims to make sure families from all backgrounds get the help they need to use digital health resources effectively.
