ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two different medicines, etomidate combined with either fentanyl or esketamine, affect pain after tonsil removal surgery in children. The goal is to see if using esketamine with etomidate helps reduce pain better than the usual combination with fentanyl. The study will include children aged 2 to 10 years old who are generally healthy and scheduled for tonsillectomy, which is the surgical removal of the tonsils.
If your child qualifies, meaning they are between 2 and 10 years old, have no serious medical or mental health conditions, and are having this surgery planned, they may be able to participate. During the surgery, your child will receive one of the two medicine combinations to help with anesthesia and pain control. Doctors will then check your child’s pain levels at 2, 8, and 24 hours after surgery using a simple pain scale designed for children. This study is not yet recruiting participants but aims to find better ways to manage pain for kids after tonsil surgery.
