ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different ways to place a small tube, called a catheter, into an artery in children to monitor blood pressure and take blood samples during surgery or intensive care. The doctors want to compare inserting the catheter into the wrist area closer to the hand (distal) versus higher up on the arm (proximal) using ultrasound guidance, which helps them see the artery clearly. They will look at which method works better, takes less time, and causes fewer problems.
Children who are having planned surgery and are healthy enough to safely undergo the procedure may be eligible to participate. Kids with certain health issues, like blood vessel problems, infections at the insertion site, or blood clotting disorders, would not be able to join. If selected, participants will have the catheter placed in one of the two wrist areas while the doctors watch with ultrasound to help guide the process. This study aims to find the safest and most effective way to do this common procedure in children.
