ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to manage pain and help recovery after lumbar spinal surgery, which is surgery on the lower back. The study compares a common method where local anesthetic (numbing medicine) is injected directly around the surgery area to another technique called the Erector Spinae Plane (ESP) block, which involves injecting the anesthetic near specific back muscles to block pain. The goal is to see which method helps patients recover better and feel less pain after their surgery.
People who may join the study are adults between 18 and 75 years old who are scheduled for planned (not emergency) lumbar spine surgery and are generally in good health (based on standard medical classifications). Participants should be able to understand and agree to join the study and should not have certain conditions like bleeding problems, infections where the injections would be given, long-term opioid use, or psychiatric disorders. If you join, you will receive one of the two pain management options during your surgery, and the researchers will closely monitor your recovery and pain levels afterward to see which approach works best. This study is not yet recruiting participants but may be an option for people preparing for lumbar spine surgery in the future.
