Nimodipine Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Pharmacokinetics

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how the medicine nimodipine works in people who have had a type of brain bleed called aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). This condition happens when a weakened blood vessel in the brain bursts, causing bleeding. Nimodipine is the only medicine known to help improve recovery after this kind of brain bleed, but researchers have noticed that different patients may absorb the medicine differently. The study aims to find out if the amount of nimodipine in the blood varies between patients and whether the two slightly different forms of nimodipine have different effects on recovery. This could help doctors personalize dosing in the future to give each patient the best possible care.

Adults aged 18 to 85 who have been diagnosed with aneurysmal SAH and are being treated with nimodipine may be eligible to join the study. Participants will have blood samples taken to measure how much nimodipine is in their body, and their recovery will be checked 90 days after the brain bleed. The study is being done at several hospitals in Canada and the USA. If you join, you can expect regular blood tests and follow-up visits to help researchers understand how nimodipine works best. This research could lead to better, more personalized treatment for people recovering from this serious brain injury.
