ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether using virtual reality (VR) glasses can help reduce pain and anxiety in patients having colorectal surgery, which is surgery involving the colon or rectum. The study will include 60 patients who are between 18 and 65 years old and are scheduled for laparoscopic colorectal surgery—a less invasive type of surgery using small cuts. To join, patients must be generally healthy without serious complications, not have certain medical conditions like epilepsy or anxiety disorders, and agree to participate voluntarily.
If you join the study, you will be randomly placed into one of two groups. The group using VR glasses will watch a calming video with nature scenes and relaxing music through the glasses for about 10 to 15 minutes before surgery and again after surgery once your vital signs are stable. Researchers will check your pain and anxiety levels before and after these sessions. The other group will receive the usual care without VR. The VR sessions are designed to be safe and comfortable, and you can stop at any time if you feel uneasy. The study aims to see if this simple, relaxing experience can make surgery less stressful and painful.
