ClinConnect Summary
This study is testing a new way to repair a unilateral alveolar cleft (a gap in the upper jaw on one side) using a combination of sticky bone graft and a concentrated growth factor (CGF) membrane. It plans to enroll about 10 people aged 13 to 30 who have this condition, are otherwise healthy, and do not have conditions that could affect bone healing. The research is being done at the Faculty of Dentistry, Tanta University in Egypt, and is currently inviting eligible participants.
If you participate, you would have the repair surgery under general anesthesia. The surgeon will fill the cleft with the sticky bone graft and cover it with a CGF membrane to help healing. After surgery you’ll have follow-up visits at 1–2 weeks, and then at 1, 3, and 9 months to monitor healing, check for infection or nasal regurgitation, and see if the fistula (opening) returns. Imaging with CBCT will be used to measure the graft size and bone density over time. The study is a single-group design, meaning there is no comparison group.
