ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether doing rehabilitation exercises at home without supervision is as safe as supervised rehabilitation with a physiotherapist after knee replacement surgery. Knee replacement, also called knee arthroplasty, is a common surgery to relieve pain and improve movement in people with severe knee arthritis. After surgery, rehabilitation exercises help patients recover, but it’s unclear if supervised rehab lowers the risk of serious problems compared to unsupervised home exercises. This study will look at health records from thousands of patients in Denmark to see if unsupervised rehab leads to more serious health issues over two years compared to supervised rehab.
Adults in Denmark who have had their first total or partial knee replacement due to osteoarthritis may be eligible for this study. Participants would either be referred to supervised rehab sessions with a physiotherapist or given instructions to do exercises on their own at home. The main thing researchers will watch for is serious health problems that require hospital visits. By comparing these two groups, the study aims to help doctors and patients decide the safest and most effective way to recover after knee replacement surgery. It’s important to know this study uses existing health data and is not yet recruiting participants.
