ClinConnect Summary

This study is designed to help improve the heart health of home health aides—people who care for adults in their homes but often face health challenges themselves. The program being tested is called Life’s Essential 8, created by the American Heart Association, which focuses on healthy habits like good nutrition, regular exercise, and positive thinking. Home health aides who join the study will work with a trained peer coach, someone who also works as a home health aide, to guide them through this 10-week program over six months. The study wants to find out if aides use and like the program, and whether it helps them improve their heart health.

To be part of the study, participants need to be currently working as home health aides, at least 18 years old, speak English or Spanish, and have certain signs of lower heart health based on things like blood pressure, body weight, diet, and activity levels. Those with less than one year of experience, no smartphone, or who have had problems with simple blood tests will not be eligible. If selected, participants can expect support focused on healthy habits and positive thinking, aiming to create lasting improvements in their heart health. This study has not started recruiting yet, but it offers a promising way to support the well-being of home health aides through a friendly, peer-led program.
