ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether using telenursing—nurses providing care and advice over the phone or online—can help improve the experience and safety of adults preparing for planned (elective) surgeries in a university hospital in Brazil’s public health system. The study will compare two groups: one receiving usual in-person nursing care on the day of surgery, and the other receiving extra nursing support remotely the day before surgery. Researchers want to see if telenursing can reduce the number of surgeries that get canceled at the last minute, help patients feel more informed and satisfied, and possibly lower healthcare costs.
Adults aged 18 and older who are coming from home on the day of their scheduled surgery may join the study. However, patients already hospitalized, those having eye, childbirth-related, or children’s surgeries, or certain outpatient procedures like endoscopies won’t be included. If you participate, you might receive a phone or video call from a nurse before your surgery to review your health and answer questions, and then have a usual nursing check when you arrive at the hospital. The study will look at how well this remote nursing support works in helping surgeries go ahead as planned and improving overall patient care. This trial has not started recruiting yet.
