ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a type of pain relief called regional analgesia—specifically nerve blocks near the abdomen—might affect sleep quality after surgery. The study focuses on women having a planned total abdominal hysterectomy, which is surgery to remove the uterus through an incision in the belly. Researchers want to see if adding these nerve blocks to the usual general anesthesia can help patients sleep better after their operation, using a simple questionnaire that measures sleep quality.
Women between 18 and 70 years old who are generally healthy enough for surgery, scheduled to stay in the hospital for at least one night after their hysterectomy, and able to understand and answer questions about their sleep may be eligible to join. People with certain conditions like neurological or psychiatric disorders, sleep problems, or those who use sleep medications won’t be able to participate. Participants can expect to receive standard anesthesia for surgery, with or without the added nerve block, and will be asked to share how well they slept after the procedure. This study is not yet recruiting patients, but it aims to help improve pain management and sleep quality after surgery in the future.
