ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how muscle and fat tissue in certain muscles of older women relate to their physical abilities. Using ultrasound, a painless imaging method, researchers will look at muscle quality and fat just under the skin in women aged 65 and older. The main goal is to see if these ultrasound measurements can help explain how well women can perform everyday movements and activities.
Women who are 65 or older, live in the community, and are already part of a specific health program called PReGe may be eligible to join. The study will not include women who have had recent surgeries, certain implants, muscle or nerve diseases, serious mobility problems, sudden weight loss, or specific abdominal issues. Participants can expect a quick, non-invasive ultrasound exam and some simple tests to assess their physical function. This study may help improve understanding of muscle health in older women, which could lead to better ways to support strength and mobility as people age.
