ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether giving hand massages to patients who are physically restrained can help improve their skin color, blood flow, skin temperature, and reduce pain. Physical restraint means that a patient’s arms are gently held or limited to keep them safe, but only when a doctor decides it’s necessary. The study wants to see if hand massage can prevent some of the problems that might happen when someone is restrained.
To take part, patients need to be between 65 and 74 years old, have both arms restrained with the doctor’s written approval, and also be receiving medication to help with restraint. Family members must agree to the patient’s participation. If someone joins the study, nurses will regularly give gentle hand massages while the patient is restrained, and the team will carefully watch for any changes in the patient’s comfort and skin health. This research is currently recruiting patients and is open to all genders.
