ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a treatment called thread embedding acupuncture (TEA) can help people recover faster after surgery for colorectal cancer, which affects the colon or rectum. After this kind of surgery, some patients experience a delay in their digestive system starting to work again, known as postoperative ileus. The study wants to see if TEA can speed up important milestones like the first time patients pass gas or have a bowel movement, how soon they can eat normally, and whether it helps them leave the hospital sooner and feel better overall.
Adults between 18 and 80 years old who have been diagnosed with stage I to III colorectal cancer and are scheduled for planned laparoscopic (minimally invasive) colorectal surgery may be eligible to join. People with serious health problems, emergency surgeries, or who have had major abdominal surgeries before might not qualify. Participants will receive TEA treatment after surgery and be closely monitored to track their recovery and safety. This study is being done at multiple medical centers and is currently looking for volunteers interested in helping improve recovery after colorectal cancer surgery.
