ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how well regional anesthesia—special nerve-blocking techniques—can help control pain after surgery for pelvic bone fractures. Pelvic fractures are serious injuries that often require surgery, and managing pain afterward is very important. The researchers want to see if using regional anesthesia can reduce the need for opioid pain medicines (which can have side effects), lower pain levels in the first couple of days after surgery, and help reduce complications and long-term pain. They will also follow patients for up to three months to see how well they recover and if any ongoing pain develops.
Adults who have pelvic or acetabular (hip socket) fractures needing surgery might be able to join this study. During surgery, if a specially trained anesthesiologist is available, patients will receive regional anesthesia along with standard pain treatments. If not, they will get the usual pain medicines without the nerve block. All treatments used are standard care and not experimental. Participants can expect regular pain checks, medication reviews, and follow-up visits after surgery to monitor their recovery and potential side effects. This study aims to find better ways to manage pain and improve healing after pelvic fracture surgery.
