ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether watching an educational video about uterine fibroids and their treatment can help women feel more confident when making decisions about how to manage their condition. Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus that often cause heavy or painful periods. Since there are many treatment options—each with different benefits, risks, and effects on future fertility—deciding which one is right can be challenging. In this study, some participants will watch a video explaining fibroids and treatments, while others will receive the usual care without the video. The researchers will then see if the video helps reduce confusion or uncertainty about choosing a treatment.
Women who have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and have an upcoming appointment at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to talk about treatment options may be eligible to join. However, women under 18 or over 55, those who are pregnant, have gone through menopause, have certain cancers, or have already decided on surgery before joining the study cannot participate. If you join, you’ll either watch the educational video or receive usual care, and then you’ll complete a simple survey about how confident you feel in making treatment decisions. This study is currently looking for participants and aims to help women better understand their options when facing fibroid treatment decisions.
