ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at whether showing the film *Queen of Katwe* can inspire and motivate high school students in Kenya. The movie tells the true story of Phiona Mutesi, a girl from Uganda who overcomes poverty to become a chess champion. Researchers want to see if using this film as a role model story is a good, easy, and affordable way to help students feel more engaged and motivated in school.
The study is open to students aged 13 to 19 who attend a mixed secondary school in Ngong town, Kajiado County. About 250 students will watch the movie at school, and researchers will ask them and their teachers for feedback before and after viewing. They will check how easy it is to organize the activity, how much the students and teachers like it, and how interested the students are. This information will help decide if this simple approach could be used in other schools to support learning and motivation.
