ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how breathing air with less oxygen during rest periods between short bursts of exercise affects people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a lung condition that makes it hard to breathe. The goal is to see if this method can reduce the strain on the lungs during exercise, make the exercise feel easier, and improve sleep quality. Participants will do cycling exercises with breaks where they breathe air containing less oxygen, and researchers will measure how hard the exercise feels, how well their lungs and heart respond, and their sleep quality.

To join the study, participants should be between 40 and 60 years old, have moderate COPD (stage II), and meet certain lung function and body weight requirements. They must also have stopped smoking for at least a week and be either inactive or somewhat active physically. If eligible, participants will visit the hospital on multiple days to complete exercise sessions with different breathing conditions. This study is not yet recruiting, but it offers an opportunity to explore a new way to make exercise easier and potentially improve sleep for people living with COPD.
