Spinal Cord Stroke Gait Rehabilitation Direct Current Stimulation

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new way to help people who have had a stroke and now have trouble walking. The treatment, called cerebello-spinal direct current stimulation (csDCS), uses a mild electrical current applied to the area around the brain and spinal cord to see if it can improve walking and overall movement. Researchers want to find out if this treatment is safe and if it really helps people move better compared to a fake treatment that doesn’t have any electrical current.

People who might join this study are adults who had a stroke at least six months ago and have difficulty walking because of it. To participate, they need to have a confirmed stroke diagnosis and be able to communicate in some way. Those with metal implants in their spine or serious bone or joint problems cannot take part. If selected, participants will receive the electrical stimulation or the fake treatment while walking on a treadmill every day for two weeks. This study is currently looking for volunteers, and anyone interested should talk to their doctor to see if they qualify.
