ClinConnect Summary
This study is exploring a new way to help adults adjust to vision loss by combining two approaches: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps change negative thinking patterns, and mindfulness, which involves being present and calm. The goal is to create and test a group therapy program designed especially for people coping with changes in their vision. First, the researchers will hold focus groups to gather ideas and feedback from participants, then they will run a pilot program where a new group takes part in weekly therapy sessions to see how well the approach works.
Adults aged 18 and older who have any level of vision loss—from mild to severe—are invited to join, as long as they are willing to share their experiences and participate in the therapy or focus groups. People with severe memory or thinking problems, those born blind, or those currently in other medical studies may not be eligible. Participants can expect to complete some short surveys about their vision and personal background, attend group discussions or therapy sessions, and provide feedback to help improve the program. This study is currently recruiting volunteers who want to help develop better support for adjusting to vision loss.
