ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to manage pain and comfort during a surgical procedure called urethroplasty, which repairs the tube that carries urine out of the body. Specifically, the study compares general anesthesia (where you are fully asleep) with spinal anesthesia combined with a local numbing medicine injected around the area. They want to find out which method works better for patients having a buccal mucosal graft, a type of tissue taken from inside the cheek to help with the repair.
Men aged 21 and older who are generally healthy and scheduled for this surgery may be eligible to join. However, people who take pain medicine regularly for long-term illness, have allergies to numbing medicines or opioids, have infections where the needle would go, or have trouble describing their pain may not qualify. If you participate, you can expect to receive either general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia with local numbing during your operation. The study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to help doctors understand which anesthesia approach is best for comfort and safety in this surgery.
