Infant Urine Collection Noninvasive Stimulation

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two gentle, noninvasive methods to help collect urine samples from infants. The goal is to see which method works better, causes less discomfort, and takes less time when doctors need to collect urine to check for infections. The two techniques involve softly stimulating the area around the baby’s bladder to encourage urination without using invasive tools.

Babies who might join the study are those between about 1 month and 6 months old, who need a urine test because their doctor suspects a urinary tract infection. To be eligible, the baby should be feeding normally by mouth, awake with stable health signs, and have healthy skin where the stimulation will be done. Families must speak Turkish and agree to participate. If the baby has breathing problems, dehydration, chronic illnesses, or certain other health concerns, they would not be able to join. If you take part, the healthcare team will use one of these gentle stimulation methods during urine collection and observe how well it works, how long it takes, and whether the baby feels any pain. This study aims to find easier and less uncomfortable ways to collect urine from infants, which can help improve care for little patients in the future.
