ClinConnect Summary
This is an observational study called “Early Detection of Prostate Cancer Among Men in the Middle Region of Syria.” It aims to understand how men in central Syria think about prostate cancer screening, what helps or hinders people from getting screened, and how to improve early detection. As part of the study, researchers may use two common screening tools: a PSA blood test (which checks the level of a protein from the prostate in the blood) and a digital rectal exam (DRE), where a clinician checks the prostate by feeling it with a gloved finger. The goal is not to test a treatment but to learn about awareness, attitudes, and practices and to estimate how often early signs of prostate cancer are found in the group.
Adults aged 40 to 65 who live in the middle region of Syria and have not been diagnosed with prostate cancer can participate, with enrollment by invitation and about 1,000 people expected over six months. If you join, you may complete surveys about knowledge and views on screening and, as part of the study, undergo PSA testing and a DRE. Participation is voluntary, data are handled to protect privacy, and the study is led by Al-Hawash Private University with oversight by a safety committee. This project is not a drug trial and does not involve sharing individual-level data outside the study.
