ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying new ways to help young women prevent HIV, a virus that affects the immune system. Researchers are introducing a new HIV prevention product called the dapivirine ring—a small, flexible ring that women can wear inside the vagina to lower the chance of getting HIV. The study will take place at 12 health clinics in Kenya that already offer daily oral PrEP (a pill that helps prevent HIV). The goal is to see if offering more than one option for HIV prevention, like the ring along with the pill, helps more young women start and continue using these methods.
Young women between 18 and 30 years old who are visiting these clinics for reproductive health services—such as family planning, pregnancy care, or postnatal care—may be eligible to join the study. Participants will receive counseling about their HIV prevention choices and can decide whether to use the dapivirine ring, oral PrEP, or both. The study team will support the clinics in providing these options and will follow how many women choose and stick with these prevention methods over time. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and anyone interested should be able to read or speak Kiswahili or English and be willing to give informed consent to take part.
