ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two ways to help reduce anxiety in children aged 2 to 12 who are about to have an endoscopy or colonoscopy, which are procedures that allow doctors to look inside the digestive system. The study is comparing the effects of giving a medicine called dexmedetomidine through the nose with simply having the child watch a short video before the procedure. Both methods are already used in the hospital to help kids feel calmer. The study will see which one works better at lowering anxiety and reducing the need for additional sedation through an IV.
Children who are generally healthy (with no serious heart problems or epilepsy) and are scheduled for these procedures may be eligible to join the study. If your child is between 2 and 12 years old and meets these health criteria, they might be included. During the study, your child will receive either the nasal medicine or watch a video as part of their usual care before the procedure. The goal is to make the experience less stressful and more comfortable for young patients. Participation is voluntary, and if you decide not to join, your child will still receive standard care.
