ClinConnect Summary
This study is testing how accurately artificial intelligence (AI) can detect missed root canals in a lower second molar that has already had root canal treatment. Researchers will compare AI analysis with cone-beam CT imaging (a 3D X-ray) and with the standard clinical exam using a dental operating microscope to see which method best identifies canals that were not found during the first treatment. The main goal is to see if AI can reliably detect missed canals or variations in tooth shape.
People eligible are adults aged 18–50 who are healthy and have a tooth that has already had a root canal, is restorable, and willing to participate. Exclusions include very poor oral hygiene, pregnancy, psychological concerns, a tooth with heavy mobility or that cannot be restored, and teeth with abnormal anatomy or calcified canals. If needed, retreatment will be performed with local anesthesia following standard steps, and the tooth will be evaluated before treatment and again within about a week after. The study is being conducted at Future University in Egypt, has an estimated small enrollment (about 3 participants), and is currently enrolling by invitation.
