ClinConnect Summary

This study is looking at the best way to teach midwifery students how to perform the Leopold maneuver, a hands-on skill used to check a baby’s position during pregnancy. The researchers want to see if learning through watching a video or practicing with a physical model helps students improve their skills more effectively. The study will take place at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü Imam University and involves second-year female midwifery students who have not yet taken related courses or learned this specific skill before.

If you take part, you’ll first join a 2-hour class explaining the theory behind the maneuver. Then, you’ll be randomly placed into one of three groups: one that watches an instructional video, one that practices directly on an anatomical model, or a control group that receives no extra training beyond the class. Your skills will be tested a few days after the training and again two months later to see how well you’ve learned. At the end, everyone will get additional training to make sure all participants have the same opportunity to learn. The study also looks at how satisfied students feel with the training and how anxious they might be during the learning process. Participation is voluntary, and all training and testing sessions must be attended for the study.
