ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how vestibular (balance) problems in infants and toddlers relate to their motor development. It compares kids with vestibular impairment to healthy peers and uses three standard motor tests (AIMS, PDMS-2, and HINE) to see if there are unusual movement patterns specifically linked to vestibular issues. To keep findings fair, the testers who perform and score the tests do not know which children have vestibular problems.
Eligible participants are children ages about 5 months up to 3 years, of any sex, including healthy volunteers, who can complete child-friendly vestibular tests. About 30 children are planned to join, and the study is based at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. Children are tested at the start and again around 6 months later; this is a non-treatment, diagnostic study, and results are not yet available. The project is led by Region Stockholm, with Luca Verrecchia as the principal investigator, and enrollment is ongoing by invitation.
