ClinConnect Summary
This study, called Brain Health Oneida, aims to learn more about how risk factors for stroke affect the brain in Native American adults. The researchers want to see if certain health issues are linked to changes in the brain by using brain scans and memory tests. This information could help improve brain health care for the Oneida Nation community.
People who are eligible to join the study are Native American adults between the ages of 55 and 90 who receive healthcare through the Oneida Comprehensive Health Division. If you join, you will have a painless ultrasound of the neck to check blood flow, a brain MRI scan (which is a safe, detailed picture of the brain), and simple memory and thinking tests. The study is still not recruiting participants yet, but it hopes to include both men and women from the community. If you have any metal or other reasons that prevent you from having an MRI, you would not be able to join.
