ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different types of training tools used to teach first-year medical residents how to perform laparoscopic appendicectomy, which is a minimally invasive surgery to remove the appendix. The two tools being compared are the Classic Box Trainer, a traditional hands-on practice box, and the LAPARO Analytic, a more advanced simulator. The goal is to see which tool helps residents learn and keep important surgical skills better, and which one they find more satisfying to use.
To take part, you need to be a first-year medical resident at Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João (CHUSJ) who has never had formal laparoscopic training before. Participants will attend a 3-hour supervised training session using one of the two tools, then return 15 days later for a follow-up assessment using cadaver practice. The study will measure how well residents perform the skills and ask for their feedback. This research aims to improve how laparoscopic surgery is taught, helping future surgeons learn more effectively.
