ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a condition called Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS) in children, which causes breathing difficulties during sleep and can lead to serious health problems if not treated. The study aims to find out if children who have a specific orthodontic issue—a narrow upper jaw, known as transverse maxillary deficiency—are more likely to develop this sleep disorder. If a connection is found, it could help doctors and dentists spot OSAHS earlier by noticing this jaw problem during routine check-ups.
Children between 6 and 16 years old who have either this narrow upper jaw or other common orthodontic issues like crooked teeth or mild bite problems may be eligible to join. To participate, children and their guardians need to agree to the study and have health insurance. The trial is not recruiting yet, but if involved, families can expect a thorough dental and sleep assessment to better understand the link between jaw shape and sleep apnea. Early diagnosis could lead to faster treatment and better health for affected children.
