ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how using a ChatGPT-based app might help reduce feelings of social isolation and improve overall health in older women and men who have congestive heart failure (CHF), a condition where the heart doesn’t pump blood as well as it should. The study will look closely at differences between genders and how factors like muscle weakness, frailty (a state of increased vulnerability), and social connections affect health. Researchers will also explore how these factors relate to mood, physical activity, and daily functioning over time.

To take part, participants need to be 65 years or older, have a diagnosis of CHF with a certain level of heart function (an ejection fraction below 40%), and be able to communicate in Mandarin or Taiwanese. People with unstable heart failure, serious other health problems, severe memory or thinking difficulties, or major psychiatric conditions won’t be eligible. Those who join will be part of one of three groups: one using the ChatGPT app daily to help monitor and support their emotional well-being, another encouraged to join community social activities, and a control group continuing their usual routine. The study will last about three years, with regular check-ins to see how participants are doing physically, socially, and emotionally. The goal is to find new ways to support older adults with heart failure, especially by using technology to improve their social connections and overall health.
