ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help people who have ongoing pain in their jaw and face, a condition called temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). The study will test whether a smartphone app using a type of therapy called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can reduce pain better than the usual treatment, which involves wearing a special mouth guard (occlusal splint), or no treatment at all. The app will send helpful reminders and activities throughout the day to support managing pain.
People who might join this study are adults aged 18 or older who have had jaw or face muscle pain for at least 3 months and use a smartphone regularly. They also need to understand Swedish since the study will be conducted in Swedish. The study does not include people with other types of facial pain or those with memory or thinking difficulties. Participants can expect to try either the smartphone program, the mouth guard treatment, or be on a waiting list, and the researchers will compare how well each method helps with pain over time. This study is not yet recruiting, so interested individuals should stay tuned for when it opens.
