ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at whether a home-based lung rehabilitation program is possible and acceptable for children aged 6 to 15 who have recently finished treatment for tuberculosis (TB) that affected their lungs. The program lasts six weeks and includes simple exercises like walking and wall sits that children do at home twice a week. The goal is to see if children and their caregivers can follow the program and find it helpful. Researchers will also check if the program helps improve how far children can walk and their overall quality of life.
Children who join the study will first visit a clinic for tests, including a walking test and a questionnaire about their breathing and daily activities. They will then receive instructions, a pedometer to track steps, and weekly support from study staff by phone or in person. After six weeks, they will return for follow-up tests. To be eligible, children must be between 6 and 17 years old, have had lung problems after TB, live in the study area around Kampala, and be able to do mild to moderate exercise. Children currently in other rehab programs or with active lung infections won’t be able to join. This study is not yet recruiting participants.
