ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different ways to manage pain after a minimally invasive lung surgery called RATS. The goal is to find out which method helps patients feel less pain and need fewer pain medicines after their operation. One method uses a local anesthetic injected near the ribs at the surgery site, which is the standard approach. The other method uses a special freezing technique called cryotherapy, which can block pain for 1 to 3 months. By comparing these two methods, doctors hope to discover which one works better for controlling pain after surgery.
Adults aged 18 and older who are having this type of lung surgery and can understand Dutch are invited to join, as long as they meet certain health criteria. For example, people who have had previous chest surgeries, need very extensive lung operations, or have serious kidney problems cannot participate. If you join the study, you will receive one of the two pain treatments during your surgery, and the doctors will then check how much pain you feel and how much pain medicine you need afterward. This study is small, involving only six people, and is currently open for enrollment.
