ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at different surgical methods to treat atrial fibrillation (AF), which is a common heart rhythm problem. Specifically, it compares three types of procedures used during heart surgery to see which one works best at controlling AF one year after the operation. These procedures involve creating small scars in the heart to help restore a normal heartbeat.
Adults between 18 and 85 years old who have a history of AF and are already scheduled for heart surgery using a specific approach (called sternotomy, which involves opening the chest) may be eligible. However, people with very weak heart function, certain heart device implants, or previous heart surgeries might not qualify. If you join the trial, you will undergo one of the three surgical treatments during your planned heart surgery, and doctors will check how well your heart rhythm is controlled over the following year. This study aims to find the safest and most effective surgery to help people with AF live healthier lives.
