ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how using digital tools like a mobile app and online resources can help young people with intellectual disabilities, including those with Down syndrome and autism, live healthier lives. The goal is to encourage more physical activity and better eating habits by working closely with families, teachers, and caregivers. Because of COVID-19, using technology for learning and support has become even more important, especially for those who may not be able to attend in-person activities. This project also aims to provide educators and health professionals with the right tools and training to support these healthy lifestyle changes in a way that fits the needs of young people with intellectual disabilities.
Young people between 4 and 30 years old who have an intellectual disability and can follow simple instructions may be able to join this study. However, those with severe sensory or movement difficulties, medical issues that prevent moderate exercise, or who cannot use a smartphone during the study are not eligible. Participants and their families can expect to use the app and take part in educational activities designed to promote healthy habits. The study also includes workshops and events to raise awareness and share best practices with a wider community. Overall, this trial hopes to make it easier and more fun for young people with intellectual disabilities to stay active and eat well, using technology as a helpful guide.
