ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a special education program for nurses and cleaning staff can help prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), a lung infection that can happen in patients who need help breathing with a machine in the intensive care unit (ICU). The program focuses on teaching the healthcare team the best ways to care for patients on ventilators to reduce the risk of this infection.
Patients who are 18 years or older and need to be on a breathing machine for more than two days may be part of this study, as long as they do not already have pneumonia when they enter the ICU. If you or a loved one qualifies, the healthcare team will receive extra training on how to keep the breathing equipment and patient care as safe as possible. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to improve the care and safety of patients on ventilators by helping hospital staff learn and apply the best prevention methods.
